A poem: Keep Going

Screen-Shot-2020-04-28-at-11.03.55

On the importance of continuing to forge the path forward, even if sometimes the steps aren’t too clear. The importance of baby steps, and trying, and keeping on keeping on.

Keep Going

Creature of a higher sphere
the muse whispers sweetly in my ear
‘Keep going’, she says, ‘you’re onto something’
Calmed and soothed, I let her sing:

‘See this whisper as a nudge
rise above gossip, drama, grudge,
that news that’s always so inviting
is a black hole so frightening.

The siren song of distraction,
will never lose its dark attraction.
You emerge, blinking, from a dream,
wrapped in ghastly things you’ve seen.’

But the world is filled with so many temptations,
how can we live up to our high expectations?
Our brilliance, pure and divine,
arrives with practice, that first line.

Us time-bound beings
give her joy, a glorious sight!
as we bring our art into existence,
she claps with thrilled delight

And so, when on your shoulder sits
a being of celestial grace and golden wits
she’s the muse you must invoke
it’s her who last time you heard spoke:

‘Keep going’ she croons, ‘keep going’.
