Word Mountains
Once upon a time, I was at university.
That splendid place where adult responsibilities are delightfully postponed: nights spent in general debauchery, days buried in amongst dusty tomes, untangling extraordinary essay titles which made no sense until, in writing, suddenly they did.
In those four years, the most phenomenal quantity of words piled up. Essays churned out, week on week, thousands and thousands of words. A word mountain.
The power of the deadline was, and continues to be, an immeasurable whip.
A whip which disappears entirely upon entering real life.

I’ve committed to publishing a poem every Friday, but there is something else wanting to be revealed, I can feel it.
So, this time next week, I will tell you what that thing is, as I’m pretty sure I’ll know by then…
Until tomorrow, amigos,
