On Poetry: Luminous
Under the moonlit sky,
in the luminous sea,
nipples like polka dots,
face filled with glee.
This was what made her
the woman she was
this was what showed her
how powerful because
Each time she showed up
and faced the dark waves
Each time she showed herself
she could be brave
That she could commit
to herself and to others
She could commit to her work
beyond that of mother.
She felt buoyed up
built up, refreshed and brand new
Like a polished stone statue
in a bright, brilliant hue.
